Medication will work to different degrees and have different side effects for every person.
I would highly suggest doing some internet research before you take anything though. Find out how much it costs. Find out if there are cheaper alternatives. Find out how long the drug has been on the market and if there is a generic already there (which is a big plus). Many times, a doc will give you what he has samples for so you can try them out. Those samples come from somewhere...know what I mean?
My usual course is to check out webmd, etc. Call your insurance to see what the copay will be. And also do searches against trial lawyers websites to see if there are class action lawsuits against the drug and what the lawsuits are for.
For my trileptal, the generic was just coming out (though the price hasn't dropped yet). It's been on the market for years. And I could not find any lawsuits pending for it.
