Meds And Weight Loss

I was on 10 mg lexapro- on and off for about a year, and I feel like I gained 50 pounds during this time. So two weeks ago I stopped it. Anyone know of any anxiety/ptsd meds that have a weight loss side effect?

I believe Fluoxetine is one oft hose? Though mainly used for depression, can help with anxiety

Watch out for the load of other possible side effects though

But yea, anti anxiety meds hardly help with weight loss, as they focus on calming down, and that makes you more likely to gain weight, while anti depressants focus on adding excitation in a way, which makes weight loss often easier

Topiramate (Topomax) is reportedly very reliable for weight loss. Didn't work for me, but it was an OK med otherwise. Buproprion (wellbutrin) has been known to have a weight loss effect - but it's more of an 'upper', and generally not a go-to as an anxiety medication.

Sorry for what you are dealing with. Medication weight gain sucks.

Hey, but why you want any meds for weight loss? You need to have some workout based on your health and body's strength. Meds side effects may harm your health my friend. Take the effective body guide for your health. There are so many sites which will help to provide you a good one, then why that is needed?

Unfortunately most meds don't have a weight loss side effect. Have you altered your diet and increased your activity level?
