Members Under 18 Years Of Age

Sorry Nicolette. I told my son about this forum, but didn't know he registered and started to post on here. As soon as I found out, I told him I thought he had to be 18, so I don't think he's posted anything since then. He'll be back in July, after his birthday.

Thanks Jps and we appreciate your honesty. He is free to read as much as he wants until he turns 18.

Out of curiousity only - why isn't it permissable for an underage person to post with written permission of their parents? I mean of course, assuming the permission is legitimate?

I brought him on here to learn, primarily, after what happened to us both. There is plenty for him to read and internalize before he starts posting. It helps him to see that I do understand, and so do others. Understanding means we aren't alone.

This place has been a godsend to me. A life saver. And I wish there could be a place for him, and other teens, kept under moderation and guided. Maybe some day. Maybe he'll be the one to start it.

That is the problem Dean... how do you know permission is legitimate? I did this once, and quickly discovered the permission was simply the same underage member attempting to do so...

The next problem is that there are legal issues with medical information with persons under the age of 18, even with parental consent. Near everything has to have individual parental consent, not just a blanket statement. The law has too many issues simply for me to be concerned about, so it is easier to simply not allow any member under 18 if caught, and those who are not then I cannot be held legally responsible for. Once they declare their age I must stop them.
