IMO, mental pain is definitely more diffcult. I think partly because others can see symptoms and understand physical illness and injuries. Mental pain may be more isolating. It is hard for me to understand my own thoughts at times.

I am new to this PTSD blog. I have been alone here in Nashville and within my circle of community. But hearing from you guys who have gone through and still going through what is happening to me, I feel so not alone. MY MENTAL PAIN IS SO UNBARING AT TIMES, AND MY PHYSICAl PAIN DRIVES ME CRAZY BECAUSE MY EXPECTAtions on myself and others on me. My closes people who I need as part of my life still can't understand this "invisible" suffering.(sorry for the caps, I accidently push caps and I don't want to erase and type over). Thanks for having this blog and allowing me to part of it.

it was hard for me to choice i finally took physical pain has i suffer from cronic pain. my ptsd keeps me up and so does my mental pain. i now i would have voted both if that had been an option. both keep me awake for days i take lots of meds for both of them. so for me it is both thats why i had a hard time choice with one it was. if i choice physical like i did it don't make my mental better if i would have choosen mental it don't stop my physical pain from keeping me awake also. my exwife told me i scream in my sleep because of my ptsd and my chronic pain got so bad that the pain pills didn't work.

I've never been good with pain. But when I felt betrayal and personal loss, it was more severe than anything physical before or since.

Sticks and stones will break bones but they will heal. When you hurt my feelings, my sadness lingers on and on.

I can stand physical pain right to the point of passing out- haven't cried over anything physically since about 6 years old, even if it makes me throw up or needs a fair amount of stitches (which I never go to get).

But emotional pain, I'm a mess.
I don't know if it's because of the severity of the pain, or just the lack of tolerance to it.
