I say this with some hesitancy, because I'm far from an expert. But I've also spent some time doing energy work with the chakras, and while I can't say I've had the extreme reactions you are describing, what I did notice was inevitably that the chakras would go right back to how they were before I worked on them because I hadn't done the work needed to change the reason they were messed up in the first place. To give one example, a person with a history of sexual abuse will likely have a blocked or otherwise "messed up" second chakra. It stands to reason. Try to open it up and one of two things will happen: all the blocked energy and memories will come flooding out before we are ready to deal with them, or the chakra will close down again.
Now I think about it differently. The state of the chakras is nothing but an indicator of the state of our being. You don't work on the chakras to change the state of your being, you work on the state of your being and the state of your chakras will change to reflect that. This is a poor analogy, but think of going to a doctor and getting a blood test done. The results might show that you have anemia. You don't then add more red blood cells to the test sample to correct the imbalance. You change your diet to correct the imbalance and later get another blood test to confirm that the imbalance is sorted out. Same with the chakras. You don't work on them directly. You work on the trauma that is indicated by the state of your chakras (and the state of the rest of your life). Your chakras will sort themselves out along the way. If you are working with a healer who knows about both trauma work and energy work and they want to work on the chakras directly as part of the process, okay, but working on the chakras in isolation when you have serious trauma is dangerous.
My suggestion is to find the best trauma therapist you can and work with them. Unfortunately this is happening over the holidays. I agree with others that you need to focus as much as you can on grounding at the moment and stop trying to do energy work on yourself. Do whatever you can to get back into the present moment. Spending time in nature is usually good. So is paying attention to your senses. Then, as soon as you can, start shopping for a trauma therapist. Your chakras will sort themselves out.
