Morgellons

Is there anyone here who has Morgellons Disease? If not, is there anyone who knows what I am talking about?

It's not synonymous with Delusions of Parasitosis (DOP0, even though many Drs. think so. However, there are yet those Drs. who kno9w it is a real disease and not one of a psychiatric disorder.

I maybe should not have posted this here but the reason I did is because of the many Drs. who do think it is DOP.

Honestly, all I can find is that there is no conclusive proof of the existence of Morgellons, and that it is a manifestation of delusions of parasitosis.

In the US, both the center for disease control (CDC) and the Mayo clinic did pretty big studies, and could not confirm the existence of any infection whatsoever.

I'm curious why you are asking, though, and what country you are in.

I've heard of it before. My knowledge is the same as what @joeylittle said, that there is no conclusive proof that it exists, and that it is a manifestation of delusions of parasitosis. That said, I know what it's like to have a physical illness and be told it's psychiatric. It feels absolutely awful. So in light of that, I'm not really willing to commit to an opinion one way or the other. I've read extensively on it, though, and all the photos I've seen look like the pieces of lint I used to see on my skin as a child using a hand-held microscope. So I do have my doubts. On the flip side, psychiatric disorders in women used to be treated by all sorts of barbaric and humiliating techniques, as they were assumed to be linked to her reproductive organs. So there are some arguments both ways.
