"An Inspector Calls." Alistair Simm. 1954, black and white, a little over an hour. Lots of statement on class, status, and personal values. The story is a it simplified but it has to be for time constraints.

Synopsis: a bunch of people have to recount their relationship to a young woman who drinks antiseptic to end her life. You never see her demise, it's just spoken of.

Great idea. Perhaps people could put in a link to the movie at IMDB. Im a eookie and cant do linkk yet.

One movie that comes to mind is 'The Man from Earth'. Must have been a play as it was almost shot entirely in one room. Its about a professor that is moving on and his friends form work come to visit. As the story unravels it seems the prof may be a genetic anomploy and be sevrela thousand years old. The discussion touchs on anthropology, religion, science, etc. I found it very engrossing.

Like KP I live in the depths of rural England. We don't have such things as cable. My local rental store is pretty limited too. But I do have a dvd player :). So I hope to join in sometimes.

Big Fish and Braveheart are my suggestions.

Great idea. I have couple of hundred DVD's. Yes I know, it was escapism for me. As it's not like reading a book, a period of one week is enough to hire and watch and the same as the book club, a group of three in advance so we can all know in advance to reserve at the video store.

My choices to start.

Thelma and Louise, Susan Sarandon & Geena Davies.

The Piano, Holly Hunter and Harvey Keitel.

Changeling, Angelina Jolie and John Malkovich.

All great movies IMHO.

I watched the most inspiring, moving movie.

The Way, starring Martin Sheen and directed by his son Emilio Estavez.
MS plays a middle income American whose son is killed on The Way, a pilgrim trail. It was more poignant for me as a friend had made the trek. It was not a movie I would have picked, but it was amazing.
