Srain - I feel a lot of the jokes I tell my husband fall flat. He just stares at me. I try to just laugh at myself and that usually gets a response out of him, even if it is just a pity laugh!

We went and saw 21 Jump Street this week, which we both really liked. It can be graphic and there is cursing, so I wouldn't call it a family movie in the slightest. H and I laughed a lot, which was therapeutic. I'd recommend it!

I loved The Kings Speech. Colin is one of my very favorite actors. If we name a movie I am game. I have seen so many and have lots of DVDs.

Fierce Creatures is also one of my favorites!!

Muz, I actually rewatched Scareface...I LOVED that movie and yet my husband has never seen it, draws a blank when I quote lines from all the great movies HA! It's like throwing out comedy lines to empty room..feedback is zero, nada:speechless:. Thank God I can humor myself with these movies because I was also able to catch the Godfather trilogy. OMG...too good ;).

I watched Scarface a few times. The Godfather films are awesome!! I like them more because they aren't so graphic. Man, I wouldn't watch Scarface with the boys around. I think it would blow their minds!!

Sleepers http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0117665/ with Robert Deniro, Kevin Bacon, Dustin Hoffman, Brad Pitt
Triggering: This movie is about some boys who were sent to Juvie and were raped there. I stumbled upon it unaware about 10 years ago, and I can't let go of it. It's therapeutic to me in some weird way. :)

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0251127/ Kate Hudson, Matthew McConaughey
The way she feels about his family when she meets them, is priceless to me. :)

50 First Dates http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0343660/ Drew Barrymore, Adam Sandler
If you've ever forgotten parts of your life... lol, well this movie is just hysterical to me. Sweet that her family cares so much.

Heathers http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097493/ Wynona Ryder, Christian Slater, Shannon Doherty
Creepy, Dark Comedy about High School social structure ... This movie gets better the more times you watch it, mainly because they play it straight, but it takes some level of comfort to enjoy the humor in it! lol

Tommy Boy http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0114694/ Chris Farley, David Spade, Brian Dennehy
Speaking of movies that get better the more times you watch them! This one cracks my whole family up! Some of the scenes and jokes are ... not age appropriate, but my 13 and 11 year olds focus on the ones that are and quote more lines than I can. Especially funny to hear my son quoting Tommy when he's wrecking the model cars on a sales call... "New guy's puking his guts out in the corner..." lol. Funny movie.

Mean Girls http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0377092/ Lindsay Lohan, Screenplay by: Tina Fey! :D I was reminded of this one when I was recommending Heathers. It's a great movie, imo. Hilarious!

The Lincoln Lawyer http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1189340/ Matthew McConaughey This movie is terrifying, imo. Just freaky, to me, in so many triggering ways... but, idk... I still enjoyed watching it. :)

Kick-Ass http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1250777/ Nicolas Cage I love this movie! Can't get enough of how the little girl in this movie kicks some major ass. :) lol, so many Shockingly funny-bizarre scenes.

Depending on your aversion... I guess I wouldn't recommend watching the movies if you can't watch those scenes... the Rob Roy scene pisses me off in many various ways because of the intention behind the rape.

If you're still interested in watching but don't want to see those scenes then... Sure, skip those scenes. It's only important that you know what happened to those characters, and I've already said. ;)

But, I will also say that in Sleepers... well, it's a triggering movie altogether. These boys didn't just grow up and let go of what happened. Each one of them lives out a part of what I am going through in my life, having to deal with flashbacks, and memories, and choices I make/made based on what happened in my childhood. So, just skipping the brutality won't necessarily make the movie easier to watch.

And, in Rob Roy... the scene... I can't remember if it's necessary for another reason or not. I think not. It's intended to show just how cruel that man can be; but there is a scene in the end that shows an endearing spirit of humanity that is truly uplifting... and you'd just have to know that she was raped. No need to watch the scene; then again it is referred to in subsequent scenes.. so just skipping it won't remove it from the movie, if you see what I mean.

Some movies are cathartic to me by showing me what I've lived through and knowing I'm not alone... I hate the movies that show brutality and the victims don't prevail. Hate those movies. Why watch a movie where evil wins? I see that enough in my own life.. so, basically, these movies were thought-provoking for me, and they ended well enough that I didn't feel worse for watching them.

On that note, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1568346/ This movie is rather boring, imho... but the rape story line is the best part. :p I know, it's probably part of my own PTSD that makes me feel this way about the movie. But, if you want to see a rapist get what he deserves... I highly recommend watching her second visit to his apartment.

Sorry to recommend three movies that many here may want to avoid. :(
