Maybe it's just the circle of people that I tend to have contact with, but having not seen the film (cinema full of people? Not likely, I'll wait for it to hit the tv!), I actually like the fact that it seems to have drummed up a bit of curiosity about DID.
I don't like Hollywood's habit of making the psycho-killer a DID'er. That storyline has been done already, move on! But I don't know that this film, being clearly beyond the realm of reality, is going to define people's understanding of DID all by itself. It's not a great way to spark interest and education, and something more along the lines of what Philadelphia did for AIDS and homosexuality would be gratefully received.
But people seeing the movie, or even just the trailer, and wondering what DID is really about, is not of itself a bad thing in my book. People being able to pronounce "Dissociation" correctly - even that's progress, you know!?
