Muscle Twitches Anyone?

Essential Tremors are different from twitches. For its none stop, continue even while asleep. Some have it and put it off as a disorder. Medication can mildly cure it, however through time the medication has to be increased to coincide with the brains electrical triggering causing the tremors in the first place. Second option is having a DBS (Deep Brain Stimulation) device similar to a pace maker installed. Had it attempted once it failed. The one time it shows really bad is when I get upset (mad) I shake violently, even my heart skips beats. As soon as it stops you better off running away fast I switch off mentally "Black Rage". I used to be able to control my anger where I would be aware but not driven by my anger, but I haven't worked on it for about 18+ years.

I get those alot in social situations too :(
They seem to occur more when I get less sleep, or maybe its when I am extra tense, which is usually caused by getting less sleep x3
Usually exercising, sleep, and some R and R fixes most of it.

I usually experience a whole body shudder that has a focused muscle group that jumps out when there is something that hits me sideways and triggers a PTSD response. The one I hate the most though is the face twitching that is steady for a while. My eye goes does the crazy half wink, my cheek and side of my mouth jitter about. One of those twitches that doesn't give a damn the horror that my emotions and ego go through - completely mindless and stubborn in it's "right" to do as it pleases. It sucks when that happens when I am out in the world, especially when I am in a position where I can cleanly "run away."

I get this when I'm through the roof with anxiety, from what I gathered from my experience its related to how well I'm breathing.

I get that too, if I'm having a very bad panic attack. It's really weird because my hands don't just jitter, it's like each finger is sort of shaking individually, subtly in different directions, instead of the whole hand just vibrating or shaking how people's hands generally shake if they're nervous. Does that make sense? :P If I try to place my hand down flat on something, it will just start moving upwards seemingly beyond my control. I can't grasp my fingers around something, if I hold a cup, my hand just starts to slowly open from how much my hands are shaking. Eventually my hands become totally rigid and just keep vibrating like that. I'm always very afraid it's a seizure.

Also my lips start twitching like crazy, and I can't talk clearly. Sometimes it happens in my legs too and the rest of my face and arms and I begin to get this feeling like my limbs are falling asleep. Probably from hyperventilating. It's such a scary feeling.

Wow, yellowfields.... that sounds well and truly horrible. :( I assume you've already tried relaxation techniques when you get them?

Yes, it usually works, but one time it didn't... it just seemed to go away on it's own. My relaxation techniques are just breathing and counting, splashing cold water on my face, or drinking water or orange juice slowly. It hasn't happened in almost a year now though thank god.

I get twitches in my arms and my legs start shaking really bad when I am very frightened. My hands shake a lot when I am nervous or uneasy. I only get the really bad shaking all over when I am extremely angry.

I have huge twitches as I am falling asleep, whole body ones as well as ones in my stomach that I never had before. I have also noticed that I have gotten numbness and tingling along with twiches in the left side of my lower face. Around my cheek and down into my jaw. That some times worries me if it is really bad. My anxiety and stress will set it off.

Have you seen a doctor? I have periodic limb movement -your body jerks as you pass into rem sleep. It's like restless legs on steroids. It wakes me up (as often as 33 times per hour in a sleep study) and wakes my wife up as well. It's a neurotransmitter thing. Mirapex at night has really helped. I can't hep you with the numbness and tingling, though. Good lick.

e.e I wish i would have noticed this first.
good thread.

I was just posting about my troubles with shaking in social situations.
