I'm not Spiderman

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this site and just wanted to share my experience with music and see if anyone else feels the same way..

So one very ordinary day I was listening to music at home when I stumbled across some old Linkin Park music from my teenage years. I started humming along, enjoying the familiarity, and I started to realise that the lyrics resonated with my own experiences. At first I just thought it was nothing, but after listening to more and more songs I realised that they were possibly singing about the same feelings which I had experienced after trauma, and it didn't seem coincidental. So I looked into the band in more detail and found out that one of the band members had experienced similar things and was very open about it. Turns out the rest of the band are really supportive and they do base some of their music on it. I never really thought about the deeper meaning much as a kid (and I never thought I'd revisit them as an adult!) but their music now resonates with me in a different way. I just listen to their music and I know I'm not alone and that makes everything really ok.

Anybody else have any music they turn to? Any songs that resonate with you too? Anyartists/bands/singers for low moments? (Is there a hardcore Linkin Park fan out there who knows any hidden gems?!) Go ahead and please share your music and stories below and why it works for you. I'd love to listen. :)

Indigo Girls could be the soundtrack of my adult life. First time I heard them I was sitting in freshman English and they started playing on the commons outside the window. Kid Fears. No song captures better the darkness I was feeling. I just recently stopped listening to them so much. But its always healing when I do.

To be honest I can't even hear the lyrics on modern day music, but then I'm classed a "Old Wrinkly" these days?

My favourite music is from the 60s, (my youth days) there were beautiful lyrics written back then.
A lot of protest and freedom lyrics, were written along with a lot of songs about love.

I've written a few poems myself over the years, all based in true life experiences, and situations that I've found myself in.

I love Linkin Park! The song "Numb" was what I listened to most when I was still stuck inside the cult as an angry, lost teenager.
