Music To Change Your Mind

I just thought of some songs that are REALLY great for when your mind is running on and on, and you can't get it to stop. I have a lot of issues with my mind running when I am trying to sleep, or when I am alone. These songs have saved me from disaster many a time. I find this list is also great for motivating housework, or an hour on the treadmill.

It has been scientifically proved that listening to music with a good beat causes your brain to use different pathways, and results in a change in thinking patterns. Use this as a trick to get out of a rut anyone?

Here are some of my selections. All of them are on Youtube if anyone wants to check them out.

Orbital- Halcyon & on & on
Rob Dugan-Clubbed To Death (Tom Middleton Remix)
E.S. Posthumous- Nara
Bonobo-Ketto
Quantic- Archepelago
Bonobo-Noctuary

Of course, not everyone will like these ones, so what are some of your suggestions? It could be fun to check different things out, and change our minds through music.

I like music that compliments my mood rather than changing it. Orbital is pretty good. Have you heard that song with Lisa Gerrard singing (last track of the blue album)? She's an awesome singer. As for a list of music, there's too freakin' much to list.

"All Tore Down" by Johnny Winters is a good one for me to "tough it out".

"If I Had My Way" by Big Sugar for "getting it up and going".

"Walk On", Neil Young for the unbeat, tough/hopeful.

I liked all of those. :) Especially Walk On. I love Neil Young. My cat liked it as well, he was pretty much head bopping along to it with me. :)

Thanks

Ya, Neil's the best. He drops into Ed's, a music store about 3 blocks from my place a couple of times a year. The SOB bought a guitar I had my eye on just a few hours before I went to pick it up!!! Well, at least I can say I came close to meeting Neil Young ;P

I can just picture your cat rocking on, head boppin' and all. Too funny ;P

Very neat story :) And yeah, Lupish makes a hilarous companion. He makes it well known what music he likes and doesn't. He hated "If I Had My Way"...I'll try to get a picture of him making his opinions known to post in my album because it really is too funny.

A-RON,
I haven't heard any of Orbital's stuff besides Halcyon & On & On, and the only reason I know that one is from movies such as Mortal Kombat, and then Hackers.
I will be sure to check for the song you mentioned though, because I am a big fan of Lisa Gerrard. Thanks for replying :)

Hey Luthien,

Have you heard the live album from Dead Can Dance? Lisa Gerrard sings on about two thirds of the album. Perfect for this time of year.

Aaron

Holy Water by Big and Rich
I Will Find You by Moya Brennan
My Jesus by Todd Agnew
Ocarina
Eagle bone flute
I like the sound that certain instruments make.
As if they're connected to me....
I like "old" music.......
and it isn't enough to just like the sound , I learn to play each instrument...
just get one... and play it.

Hi A-RON,
I have heard that cd many times. I love Dead Can Dance, That is actually how I was introduced to Lisa Gerrard. I checked out the song you mentioned. I really enjoyed it, so thanks for the reccomendation.
