Hi Mommy to 2,
Just wanted to send ((hugs)) and to let you know that I am thinking about you. The type of support your kids are getting now, is the support I did not receive at the same age, if I had, things might have turned out differently for me.
I know you are doing all you can for them, just be honest with them and let them know that you are upset about it ... I think it is best to acknowledge your emotions with them as they will pick up on any emotional dishonesty. This will also give them courage to be authentic with you and not hide their feelings. It is OK to say I am sad today, but we are going to the park to cheer up. This will also teach them coping skills.
Those of us with PTSD find it really difficult to be emotionally authentic as we have squashed our emotions for too long and can't even identify what we feel anymore. We did this to cope as we had no other way of coping. I do hope that it will be different for you and your children.
