it has luckily been a little while since i had such a vivid dream like these but there are some i still remember that i had many years ago. specifically, most of the are about either being at the mental hospital and the workers there or about my old therapist who was really bad for me. now i seem to just be having dreams about scenarios i wish i was in, but with the people i dont want them to be with. one just a couple days ago was about my first kiss and it was great but it was with my abusive ex :/

Do you notice a pattern with the dreams and what is going on for you when awake?

I find that I dream about certain things/people when it might be a tough time. I then realise it's a tough time and that acceptance that "I must have dreamt that because of X" , helps me to move on from the dream. Sort of putting it into context.

Hi @sadie 👋. Yes, I frequently have dreams like that. I had one last night where I was at the seaside playing and kayaking, but with an ex-girlfriend and people from my old college. It's 50/50 past and present. Subconscious and conscious.

Hi, I'm new on here and have cptsd. My nightmares are very vivid and they're in my mind most of the following day. I struggle to separate the real dreams from the made up weird ones. They all feel like they really happened which doesn't help when I'm already mentally exhausted. Does anyone else struggle with this?

How do you describe real dreams juxtaposed with "made up weird ones"? Can you explain a bit more?

My dreams & nightmares come in 3 basic forms

- Pure Fiction
- Too Much Nightmare Fuel (mix of fiction & reality)
- Flsshbacks whilst asleep

I have lucid dreams a lot. Most of the time it involves my alarm going off and I wake up but can’t turn off my alarm. The other type of lucid dreams I get tend to be the ones where I foresee a celebrity’s death a day or two before it happens or something in the future happens in my dream. Those lucid dreams are pretty intense and realistic.
