One of the things I worked on while in the hospital was to take care of my own needs, which included getting medical attention when necessary rather than putting it off, pretending I'm not sick, and/or ignoring symptoms. This week, I didn't feel well, and I took myself to the doctor to find out that I have a sinus infection. While I saw my psychiatrist before my primary care dr, I did cancel other appointments and have spent most of the week in bed, which is extremely unusual for me. I am very proud of myself for taking time out and taking care of myself rather than trying to do everything I'm supposed to do according to my own head. The world is not collapsed, my house is not falling down. I'm hoping I will be well enough to go to so celebrate Christmas with my husbands family this weekend, but I am not going to get anyone else sick or get myself more sick. This is a huge accomplishment for me. I usually push through sicknesses and try to do everything I usually do.
