Hubby has been doing so well lately, but the attacks in Brussels this morning have really hit him hard.

Thankfully he didn't hear about it until lunchtime, and I was able to leave work early. I got home to a broken chair and broken clothes airer, but thankfully nothing more than a few bruises to himself.

He's now asleep; alternating between whimpering, snoring and shouting.

Terror attacks are his major trigger. He has a couple of other easier to manage triggers, and a host of stressors, which we can usually work through. But these are different.

And this is even worse for him as it involved the Belgian Metro. His PTSD stems from being a police officer, and one of his traumas was the bombing on the London Underground in 2005.

There's no real point to this post, I just wanted to share with people who understand how heartbreaking it is to see their loved one going through this.

And I also hope that those poor folks in Belgium affected by today's events manage to find this website, or some similar support network, to help them cope.

Hugs if you accept them.

Terror attacks are a trigger for my vet as well. He wonders why his lads died in the middle east if the terrorists are in the west anyway. He is away camping and unaware of the Brussels attack. Am hoping I can keep him away from the TV when he gets home tonight.

So sorry your man - and you! - are suffering.

Oh PurpleMunchkin!
I was thinking about you the other day. I think we discovered that our men are both London Bombings first responders.

I sympathize. Every time I hear of a terror attack I flinch and wait for the response from my sweetie. Usually rants about how stupid the government is and why people keep letting refugees and terrorists into our countries.
Thankfully we now live in rural Canada, so it's not as bad - I can only imagine how hard it must be for your man to still be in Britain with the reminders.
Thankfully, my man has been reasonably okay. (He's been on a Omega-3 regiment now for nearly two months and we find it does stabilize his moods. That and he's switched to green tea in the afternoon instead of regular. Even if it's a placebo - we'll take it!)

Anyway please take my hugs if you like, fellow woman of a first responder. I hope you and your man can find small ways to find some peace. Even if only for a little while.

Thanks peeps, he went out on his own for the first time this afternoon.

He's still wary of going into town, but we'll get there. ;)
