Myptsd Private Ad Server

After reviewing other options, with zero success, I'm simply going to introduce our own ad server onto this site and sell ads direct. This means no complicated ad policies such as Google. This means guests and members can support our advertisers and not be discouraged from clicking upon them if relevant or informative or just curious to see what its about. Nothing members do is going to get us banned from any ad network.

Over the next week or so you will see ads appear, disappear, a lot of trial and error work will basically be happening to prepare the system, setup and saleability for advertising to be sold. The problem with this is that it will also need to run with blank ads or such, in order to gain statistical data for advertisers to use and evaluate their decisions upon. Whilst I have that data from Google's Adsense, it was also inaccurate because I wasn't allowed to run ads across many pages here due to their policies, thus ad impressions were less that actuality of what viewers read and view here.

So lots of experimenting to be done. Lots of work to be done to get it working correctly. Once I'm completely happy with it, I will write and publish a press release to the relevant industries exposing our new advertising platform for their niche market.

I think this is a great idea! Definitely will remove the potential awkwardness of violent video games showing up. Best of luck with this @anthony . As someone with minimal computer skills I appreciate people who can do things like this without say... Blowing up the world.

Who members use specifically is irrelevant. I already have demographics on what users click upon the most, which tells everything to me for who would be relevant to advertise upon the site.

The click throughs that paid out best here in the last 30 days are:
  • Consumer electronics (8%),
  • Education & Training (5%)
  • Family & Community (incl. dating) (20%),
  • Health & Pharmaceuticals (45% share),
  • Insurance, Investment, Credit (10%)
  • Pets & Animals (8% share),
  • Everything else...

I am working on another solution that came to me today... basically serving up affiliate ads through our own ad server, which gives both variation to users, earns hopefully similar money / some money again to curb costs quickly, whilst allowing the site to get financial and then target specific paid advertisers.

The forum was obtaining $2rpm (per thousand impressions) on our earnings, which was after Googles 40% cut. So really, the site was earning around $2.80rpm.

Once all setup and working correctly, affiliate banners may be the quickest way to get started with ad products that meet the user demands here, followed by a press release and looking for more specific advertisers in the health industry.

The ad server doesn't yet have geo targeting, but is due for release upon the next version. That means I can then break down the US (60%), UK (13%), Canada (7%) and Australia (6%), being the top 4 countries in order for site users, then deliver each country relevant ads only. Starting off, US would be my only aim with the biggest market.

@anthony would consideration be given to NHS (UK) supported PTSD support organisations ?

Edited.

Obviously not just UK but health care supported PTSD groups. Helping get the message out there. There are group available outside of forum.

Wanted to both say thanks for being willing to break this stuff down... My XH was in data-mining (telecom DBA/DBArchitect) so I was steeped in the other side of it for years... But marketing is an entirely different creature. Or rather, a different application of the same creature. Often with inverse (No!!! Don't do that! We'll be penalized, they watch for that!) basic rules to it.

As well as possibly ask a 101 solution to a 401 problem. If so, I'll shut up, no hard feelings!! :D

I do virtually all of my shopping through Amazon (they even deliver groceries where I live). Including, when I'm in school, thousands of dollars worth of textbooks. If there's a way to get an Amazon banner/ad/link whatever on the site, I know cheerfully add a step to all of my online shopping... So that the revenue nod comes through here. Again, don't know if they watch for that and nix it, so it's useless or worse.

Or, similar token, I have my AmazonSmile rotating between WoundedWarrior & DoctorsWithoutBorders. If MyPTSD became an option at some point in the future... I'd hands down rather the percentage of my purchases came here than clearing their overhead.

So far, I have been reluctant to shop online, for fear of identity theft and so on. My husband and I were once the victims of identity theft and I can honestly say it was one of the worst things I have ever been through. I only use Amazon so far. What kind of security precautions would you be putting into effect with all this? How safe will it be to actually shop here? (Or would we be shopping from their websites?).

We do not handle third party transactions upon MyPTSD. We do what we do, third party websites do what they do. The sites listed here are vetted websites by some of the largest marketing sites in the world... so they are legitimate shopping websites.
