I recently started going to a naturopath and taking different supplements to help with things like depression, stress and chronic pain. I was wondering if anyone else has done this and what success you've had with it? So far some things I'm taking I can tell are helping, and some I'm not really sure about so playing a wait and see game with those.

HI Zemi - I hear that Bush Flower Remedies are good to try. I suppose it depends on anything else that you are taking and how deep rooted the PTSD is???

I am all for this way of being and would love to hear how it works for you.

Good luck

Thanks a lot Sunshine, not really sure yet, just hoping something helps :) I don't know much about the bush flowers; might try looking that up.

I take melatonin and valarian. Also, I supplement with vitamins. I know that once I started doing this I quit losing my hair and could rest a little easier.

I tried some mimosa flower tea today, I picked the flowers from my yard and made it myself. I find that it has a mildly sedative effect on me. I don't know if that sort of thing is your cup of tea, but it worked for me.

I do remember reading a study on this recently... it was discovered after putting several hundred with depression onto St Johns Wart... it made the majority more depressed / did nothing. It was overwhelming from memory... in excess of 80 - 85%. They believed the very small percentage it helped, which was like 1 or 2%, was placebo, the remainder believed it has eased it slightly, though they where still depressed.

I tried st. johns a few years ago and it just made me feel ick but didn't help as far as depression. I am finding taking a magnesium powder helps with anxiety and I know very quickly if I haven't taken it. Still experimenting with some other things.

I am taking St Johns Wort at the mo - I dont feel any different though. Maybe need to take it for a while. I love health and naturel things however I never really feel different!

I found St. Johns Wort to be more of a sedative than anything. I do not see taking a sedative as a good measure when dealing with depression.
