New Here
Hello,

I am sales manager from northeastern Europe and my story is about an occurence which happened 2 years ago. But first of all I would like to put everything in order so you can get a better understanding.

The year I started my studies in university, which was year 2006, the society I was in, we kinda started partying like really hard, each weekend for 2-3 days without a break, with little sleep quite frequently. During those weekends we used all kinds of drugs and smoking weed on a daily basis seemed as a harmless routine. As the time went on I never appeared to have any really bad side effects so I felt like I was in control of things.

But then year 2010 we had a party going, everything was as usual - drugs, alcohol. (I would like to stress that the amounts of cocaine we did was up from the time we first tried) So as the party went on at one point we were short on coke, and one guy offered a legal powder substance (he had 3 different types of it as it turned out) I had tried before but never valued. I mixed it up. And what happened a few hours later seemed as the worst day of my life. I thought I was gonna die. I could not control my breathing. I was breathing so fast I though I could not carry on. It continued for at least 4 hours and finally I settled down. When the nightmare was over and I had my sleep the next day I thought I needed to have some relaxing weed therapy. But what happened after the first few whiffs was almost the same thing what happened the other day when I used that legal substance.

Since then I have been sober, but still I would like to get a diagnose. So I would be grateful to anyone who could share his ideas on my case. Thanks.

Hi Edgars,

From what you say, the physical and psychological feelings you experienced are related to drug use, i.e. you take the drug you feel the symptom. If that is the case, as Angela Marie says, stop the drugs at once.

No one on this site can diagose but from my experience this is not how PTSD works. If you are curious, take some time to read the sticky threads and get some information on the subject.

You may find more useful support on a drug related site?

Wishing you healing.

Edgars - I wonder if that could have been "bath salts" - I've heard the most horrendous stuff about it, and it's absolutely nothing like coke at all.

Also, smoking weed will often re-activate any other substance you have recently been on, so even though it seems like it might relax you, it can totally have the opposite effect - been there.

If you are struggling with PTSD or another mental illness, these street drugs are probably really counter-productive to any kind of healing process. You may want/need to use some prescription drugs that are specifically chosen by a professional for what you are dealing with, and you probably have to get off all the other stuff first. I know it's hard to quit - especially if you are in a social world where partying is the norm.

You may need help like I did to get clean and sober so you can start a meaningful treatment process, and I only say this with love, caring and absolutely no judgement toward you at all. There are free programs available worldwide.

Be safe :)

Are you still experiencing side effects? If not, it sounds like you just had a few bad trips. It is my understanding that PTSD is ongoing, but you don't describe this at all.
