Hello, I just learned about the combat PTSD forum from the other ptsd forum. I have not sought treatment for almost 20 years. I am in therapy(5 months now) and I think I will get EMDR treatments as well. I am still thinking about it. I have heard both good and bad about it.
I served in the Marine Corps for 6.5 years I was deployed overseas to Panama, Columbia, Honduras and the 1st Gulf war. I was an 0231 Amphib. Intel. warefare humit specialist.
I am glad to find that there is a place to talk about the things we faced. I tried to talk a bit about stuff in the other forum but it was strange, very few people related. -Dan

Welcome, Dan! You've come to the right place. We all suffer from the "beast" as I call it and you'll find some answers here. Folks are friendly and understand what you're going through. Let me know if I can help.

Hey Dan, welcome mate the more the merrier.

Congrats on seeking out treatment after all this time mate, that would have taken a lot of will power.

We all learn from each other here. Its a case of we don't practice what we preach, you know the plumber with the leaky tap/faucet. So join in any conversation you want, we welcome your comments.

EMDR. I had a couple of sessions of that mate. It feels real freaky at the start as they are up close and personal to you. But like all treatments there are numerous. Some people find certain treatments good and others don't.

Welcome Dan,
I don't want to say it's 'Good' to see someone else who also had fun in Columbia...But glad you found the forum. I know that you will find some help here, or at the bare minimum you have a group of people who know what you are going through to vent with/at.

What years were you there? I was in 88 and part of 89. Most of my time was in FARC land playing snoop and poop with them and the druggies. You? Were you army? or Marine Corps? or a civilian working for the Christians In Action?

LMAO I was there in late 88- early 89 as well! I was U.S. Coast Guard part of a LEDET at the time. In fact we may have 'known' each other over radio comms.

When I joined I thought I would be jumping out of helos into 20 foot waves to save a drunken fisherman...boy was I surprised to find out I was going to be humping through the mountains...

Dan, good to meet you.

I was MI in the Army - 82nd ABN DIV. Deployed to Gulf War then went to Panama and later on San Antonio, TX. Now I live in north TX and am an high school assistant principal. -Ed HOOAH!
