New Human Anti-spam Installed

I've now installed a new version of anti-spam tools to combat human spam. These cover every single aspect of the forum; posts, PC's, profile posts, account settings URL and about fields, and more.

Right now, the setting is based on 100 posts, however; that will change in the next day to a more complex algorithm of factors, such as total posts, likes, ratio of post likes and also registered duration, to make it a more robust solution.

This is required to suit a new area coming soon.

Ok... the algorithm is now in place, thus the post count is lowered. It cannot be ascertained exactly when a member can post links, because you have to meet certain criteria at all times, which means you could fluctuate under the criteria with a thousand posts, thus no longer be able to post links.

It is all about quality versus quantity, this way. It comprises post count, like count, ratio of them both and combined with a minimum registration period.

This will include images and videos from being added into member posts until they reach the required quality level for posting, along with minimum levels.

Oh... as a result, for all members who meet the criteria to post links, you will now be able to do so on your profile to list your blog, FB page, whatever your URL that you like, and the about field is also back as it's protected by the new measures.

It sounds like math.... :oops: I feel like an idiot for asking this, but would you mind placing the whole algorithm meeting criteria thing at all times part in layman's terms please?

It means you have to meet several factors combined, all of them, in order to be able to post links. If you don't meet the equation at any given time, you will try and post a link and get an error.

It works on many factors, basically people who try and get around the system by trying to post a lot of little posts that have no substance, or people who post few but go for overtly liked, duration here and other factors.

The simple answer is... you must meet all the factors at all times. They aren't set high, or even medium level, but are high enough to exclude human spamming methods / persons trying to self promote.

Will it be permitted to mention the blog, FB page or whatever in posts around the board?

No... that is advertising or self promotion. A specific field is given to legitimate members to curb that exact issue on their profile.
