New Meds: Serzone And Risperdal For PTSD

New Here
I was discharged from the hospital for PTSD symptoms. I have been spiraling down for awhile. Was put on Serzone as an anti-depressant and told that Risperdal is being used to decrease flashback, intruding memories. I have been on them for 3 days. Anyone have any experience with these? All I feel right now is really, really tired. Doctor told me this would get better in a few days, but I'm starting to wonder.
Also was put on diazepam taper and clonidine because I started withdrawing for diazepam and vicodin about the third day in the hospital. Maybe these are making me so exhausted.
I am just so sick of getting my butt kicked by PTSD. I have a bunch of therapy appointments scheduled, but I'm so tired I just want to sleep. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Is this normal, will it really pass in a few days?

I dont have experience with those certain meds, but starting new meds can always be tricky. You can get a variety of symptoms from them.
Being tired is usually a normal side effect. Your lucky thats all that is....
but if it doesnt clear up in a few days, then bring up the concern back to your doctor. Goodluck.

I have been on Risperdal in the past and yeah, my goodness... I was ALWAYS tired, and hungry. While on it, I was sleeping upwards of 10 hours a day and even when awake I was still so tired and exhausted and it was difficult to actually function at all during that time. Tiredness and weight gain is a normal side effect of Risperdal but in my experience, it didn't pass at all.

Eventually I went to a new pysch and he tried me on Seroquel and it was much better (though at first I would get dizzy & disoriented if I didn't go to bed within 30 mins of taking it, but that passed in about 6 months I think) though the intense hunger after taking it and weight gain with this med continued. But now there is a new version of it that is a slow release so you don't get the same effects as with the older version. I know it is on the market but I had found that Seroquel was much better for me.

Hope that helps?
