New Here
Hello all new member and not sure how this works just know that I am in need of talking to people who know what I'm going thru.

I go to the VA and talk to a Doc there that even though he is a nice guy he has no idea(first hand) of what I'm living.

I've been going for 2 years and nothing seems to be helping, I've been on more meds than I care to think about each one worse than the last and I don't know what to do.

HELP!!

Welcome to the forum.

There are a lot of members on here who understand ptsd very well, who I am sure help you out with any questions you have.

There are many who I know use the VA so maybe they can give you an idea of where things may be going wrong.

In the mean time have a good read of the information section, you will find loads of useful ideas that may help you move further forward.

Good luck and take care.

I can relate to the frustration of find the right medication regimen. It takes a lot of tweaking to get the cocktail just right. Don't give up!

As for your issues with the VA doc, I can't specifically speak to that. I do know that there have been therapists and psychiatrists in my past who have been very helpful, with whom I felt a I had a good rapport. There were others that used a methodology that was not helpful and with whom I didn't make much progress at all. I am curious whether you might be able to find a different doc at the same facility that might be a better fit for you?

I am new here too, and wish you the best of luck in the search for effective and adequate treatment.

It is a very difficult road-the medication conveyor belt. At one point I was on 9 different meds at one time. I was so stoned I couldn't do much of anything. It takes time to find the right meds for you. It can be especially frustrating when you have to take more medications to help you with the side effects of other meds. It is exhausting and a Good Doctor will try and make the process as easy on you as possible. Nothing will help you more than talking to a professional though. Someone you feel comfortable with. But also Being here will also help because you can talk with real life survivors. Please hang in there and talk and talk and talk, ask lots of questions. YOU are not alone!

Welcome to the board, like some have already said here many can relate to what you are going through. Finding that right cocktail of drugs can be tricky and that's what my bf is going through at the moment.

I'm sure you'll hook up with someone else who is also going to the VA and maybe they can give you a fresh insight.

Best of luck,
C.
