Also, the fact that much of Latin America has shifted to the left recently probably had something to do with his election, as the Vatican tends to meddle in these things more than it should.

As a practicing Catholic and ex-Cathechist, I feel an obligation to answer this post. But any kind of confrontation or debate makes me extremely anxious and afraid.

I'll just say that Catholics believe that the new Pope is chosen by men inspired by the Holy Spirit to do so.

Please Reallydown, can we just agree on the fact that we won't agree on this topic and leave it at that?
