don't be a twat now! haha!

seriously, I don't get it either...but that's ok...it takes all kinds of people to make up this messed up world of ours, huh??

Wife of, So true. We can learn so much from Canine Behavior in own our lives. Sounds funny, but I have learned more about good energy, patience, observing, acceptance and understanding from my Canine companions than any human in the world. Being a behaviorist, I deal with all the hurting, lost dogs, mostly Pit Bulls from fighting rings. There is a lot in common with us humans, and I have seen many from the most traumatic pasts. Again, you will get 1,00 different answers on how to deal with one individual behavior....you have to weed out the "ideas" that dont work, and focus your energy on the ones that do, each being different for each different dog.

Does anyone know the 'New' VA program that London is talking about. I bet everyone on here that is in the US would love to know. It may be helpful.

London. If you post in the 'Combat" section, people outside of this forum cannot see what you have written.
So if you could post info about this new VA program then everyone else might be able to get help.

Welcome to the boards. Sounds like a wonderful thing you are doing, I really hope you guys can really make a go with it. Get ready for some stress though. I was a cop for about 8 years before my PTSD problems reared very badly with a department head for the city I worked for. Cops cant help but bring work home with them as hard as we try to leave it. That stress normally bleeds over to the family, just a fair warning. :) For me policing (K9 especially) tended to work well with some aspects of my PTSD so typically a lot of my symptoms seemed reduced. I was always clearing rooms, doing threat assessments on everyone I saw and so on and so forth. Ghaa, rambling, sorry.

Most of us are very individualistic (not sure if that is the right term) we see ourselves as alone and it is VERY hard for us to let anyone in. There is a tape (CD) by Pink Floyd called "The Wall". Those tapes were me once I got out of the service, there was a wall, that I had put up, and I literary was terrified to let ANYONE through. It took along time to bring anyone in. I think you tag says it all, for my spouse she has to deal with a lot between my problems, the kids and all. But I also know she is there to support me during my episodes. And I do at times have a lot of guilt about exposing her to my living nightmare as I know I will never be able to thank her enough.

God bless you patience, not many people give us a lot of room to move when it comes to the dating thing, and fewer even attempt to understand what we all go though everyday.

Welcome Patience, good you are finding out all you can and sharing on here. We are all learning as we go .

The supporters area is where you need to post now unless you have a query that relates to one of the specific discussion subjects but you probably worked that out. No offence meant there.

................my heart breaks for our heroes that struggle with guilt. I might start a new thread on guilt and forgiveness..to get some more insight on that...

Hi Steph, I agree it is heart breaking. However, getting an understanding of guilt and forgiveness from a Veterans perspective maybe tricky, it seems to be a very sensitive area. I've heard it said that if you weren't there you could never understand and I think it would be one of, if not the most painful things to talk about. It's def a no go area with my hubby.

about guilt and other things. Its only been maybe a month or so ago that I finally understood where I was with that. Its guilt, bitterness, resentment and I guess kind of despair with that. This is a welcome thread mind for Patience, so I will stick it my thoughts up elsewhere.

I had to turn 'Guilt' into 'Regret'. There were some things that we as veterans have done that we are not proud of, but were done under orders. I am not making excuses here, but how do you deal with it.
Yes we cannot change what is done, the past is past. But if we hang on to it, it will chew us up and spit us out. We will be left as shells and the history will still be written

have a look at me thread in helplesnessness (is that one too many nesses)? I tried my best to explain it, but it ended up like asking a penguin to drive a truck...
