My girlfriend suffers PTSD from an emotionally and physically abusive childhood. It's a new relationship (3 months) and every 3-4 weeks she's had a pretty good episode. I do okay if it lasts 24 hours or so. After that, I start loosing my cool as she's very abusive verbally. I've come to realize though, that I really do love her and she is worth it, so I need to learn how to best support her and cope for myself. It's like magic when we're on, but wow what a nightmare when we're not.

Welcome to the forum. There is a lot of good info on her board to read though which I hope will help.
Is she on any meds for this or has she ever seen a therapist for this?

Thanks Sandra. She has done therapy and meds in the past. Currently, she's just starting Zoloft and says she's unwilling to do therapy. Too many nightmares and more frequent episodes is her concern.
