My therapist recommends that when I have a nightmare (and yes, I have the ones of the actual event) to write it down, tear it up, then rewrite how i would want to to end. I can't write "I wish I'd never been raped" but instead I write that I elbowed the one who grabbed me from behind , pulled my Glock from my purse and shot all 3 of them in the balls.
