Nightmares That Are Really Flashbacks

My therapist recommends that when I have a nightmare (and yes, I have the ones of the actual event) to write it down, tear it up, then rewrite how i would want to to end. I can't write "I wish I'd never been raped" but instead I write that I elbowed the one who grabbed me from behind , pulled my Glock from my purse and shot all 3 of them in the balls.
It really helps.....
 
When I was first diagnosed I experienced the same vivid ugly nightmares every night and would regularly wake up at two am and called it the hell hour because there seemed to be no solution for me but to go through it. Now I am on Risperdone to help me to forget my nightmares which has helped tremendously.

Now I sleep with the tv on for the background white noise and I have found that this helps out so much.

I wish you success as you go through the process of this happening. I rarely have nightmares anymore which haunt me during the day. It was sheer hell when it was happening every night for me. It took me years to get to this point so I hope that it will not take you as long.
