Thank you! This will help very much. I have used essential oils for a headache or in the bath. I think I will find one of my favorite rocks and carry a ziplocked bag of some essential oil.

Something which I'm working on now is sort of a visualization of projecting the panic feelings into space right next to me. When it's really bad, then I hold my hands up in a protective stance like I'm holding a door shut. It helps me get the space to be able to breath slowly and calm down.

I use a rosary that my son and DIL brought me from the Vatican. It reminds me that I can get ride out this Flashback as I have the others. It is harder when I am in a REM state, so I focus on my hands in the dream and shout, "Wake up!" Until I do.
Sometimes it is difficult to get out of the layers of the flashback dream or out of the levels of the sleep in order to dissipate the attack and touch the object or hold my dog for comfort. Great thread. Thanks.

Usually when I panic or dissociate/flashback, I'm often in my room and reach for a teddy bear. Often the one my boyfriend gave me, it's odd.. the texture of the teddy (it's a rough but soft kind of texture) helps a lot. Same with most other teddies and I think I am finding out that it's the massive difference in texture which helps bring me back and calm me down. Anything that is unusual to touch helps a lot. I also find that stroking my cat or (weird one) scraping my fingernails across the inside of my thumb works too. I find that touching or feeling something to distract myself is what works, so the rough texture of the teddy or the physical sensation of my fingernails etc.
