I shop locally for most thing. Its the unusual that I shop on-line for.

I tend to check on-line first and compare prices. We have very limited funds so we have little choice.

I, like KP, live in a rural area so the internet is a great commodity.

@anthony One of the things I have noticed is the expense in the UK. My son's collect swords but also make scabbards and shields using traditional techniques. Swords are so much cheaper in the USA but the main problem is finding the materials to make the scabbards/shields with. They are commonplace in the USA and some materials can be picked up dirt cheap in a Walmart but here in the UK they are thin on the ground and very expensive.

To get their stuff from the US they have to pay the expensive shipping costs or they have to pay the massive prices here in the UK. they think they are living in the wrong country and would be much better doing what they do in the US.

Our little town of 2600 folks has a Main St. that has more empty stores than filled ones.

My city of 3,000 is the same. We have this little grocery that sells rabbit, dressed or live (eww), and across the street from that is a marijuana and accessories store. Kind of embarrassing. That is why I shop online.

Little towns are often like that from my experience... and the one business that is often booming is the pub (bar).

My little town just got a new Mayor and 3 city councilmen, so maybe there is hope?
