You could just anonymously call the Humane Society or your local Animal Care&Control and report that there is an abandoned cat at that house, and let them take it from there if you are apprehensive about getting your name involved. Or maybe you can find someone who will take the cat and give him a good home. The neighbor most likely will think the cat just ran away to find food. She doesn't take care of him anyways.

Yeh I guess, but I know she has been through a lot and don't want to drop her in it with anyone. But then I guess she could have left me a note and asked me to feed him. Oh I don't know, I always have to make decisions and I hate it

I have just put a note through her letterbox asking her to text me about Tigger, so fingers crossed I will (a) know how long he has been left without food and (b) get an answer from her as to what is going on

I completely agree with Crl1983. He has been abandoned. He needs someone to care for him everyday making sure he is safe.

My head is saying to report it, but my heart is saying don't. He was an absolute ****** to her I can't even think of a word to describe it. She is obviously going through some stuff at the moment and though I don't excuse her for what she has done re Tigger I don't want to saddle her with any more crap as a sold board has just gone up outside their house today

Can you find anyone who will adopt the cat? If I lived near you I would adopt him.

I think it was a good idea about the note. If she doesn't get back to you then you know if she leaves him it will be right to report it. Even though she is going through alot right now, her cat needs to be fed and watered everyday. She knows that.

Niki is right, no matter what this woman is going through it does not excuse her neglecting her pet.

For me, my pets are family members and I can't fathom ever abandoning them like that no matter what.

Yeh I know exactly what you mean if you lose one it's like losing a relative. I've stuffed myself though putting the note through as she will know who grassed her. I did leave a cat once but that was cos the police said I wasn't allowed back to the property after my ex tried to kill me. They said they would make sure he was OK but I still fretted until I saw him

My condolences to you, my ex-husband did something similar to me. I hope your neighbor does the right thing after getting the note, if not then someone needs to save the poor cat.

Are you sure that no one would take the cat in on the grounds that it might be temporary? There are lots of caring souls out there. Even if she does know it was you, she has sold the house so now that poor cat really has nowhere to live and she hasn't gotten him, right?
