Our Pets

I have a dog for the last 3 years. He is the most special thing in my life. He seems to know when I am unwell and will happily camp out on the sofa giving me snuggles for days on end then gently gets me moving again to bring him on short walks until I can bare to be out for a decent length walk again.

He has often woke me up from a nightmare by licking my hand or arm.

Just over a week ago I got a new little kitten. He is fantastic. I'm loving his energy and playfullness! He keeps making me giggle which is exactly what I need at present.

We have dachshunds at our house and they are just lovable. When you are feeling sad, they will get up in your lap and lick (kiss) your face.

My wife's T has 2 dachshunds in her office that patients can hold and pet while talking. My wife really likes that aspect of her therapy sessions.

Jawn

Okay, I know there aren't a lot of people who would care about this, but I am so excited, I just have to write about it.

A few month ago I aquired a little turtle. Then I aquired a bunch of guppies. I thought they were for the turtle's lunch, but she didn't eat them! And I am so glad. I have totally fallen for them! And now, I am expecting one of the females to have babies any day (or any moment). I have been reading up on how to take care of them, and I can't wait to see who the daddy is (all of my males are very distinctly colored).

I have always been jealous of my husband's hobbies. I could never find something I loved that much. Now, with the turtle and the guppies, I have my hobby. I love to watch them all, love to clean the tank and feed them! So relaxing!

Well, last Friday I sorta had a pet for about 18 hours. It spent the night, ate a couple meals. Then decided the great outdoors was more to it's liking...

James, That strikes me hilarious; That picture of your pet grasshopper.

Our new puppy woke up and gee is he so cute and a good boy. Maybe, just maybe I'll be able to get a photo of him up soon. He's had a wonderful time playing outside and walking along near the ocean earlier this evening with the family. He met up with a few other doggies too. Can't wait til he meets the neighbor puppy, she's over here alot. Hopefully the two of them will get to playing together. Our youngest cat though, she's not at all any too happy about the new puppy.

OK, one more odd-ball insect encounter - sorry for the thread drift.

Couple days ago looked out the window and saw a stick plastered to the screen. Closer look, a bug? Went outside, took these pics, touched it just to make sure. Yes, it moved, slowly. This is one of 2,500 species of Walking Stick. Guess they sorta do make good "pets". Very gentle and laid back - eats leaves and stuff.

Check it out.

Walking sticks are bloody cool. I knew someone who adopted two of them from her school's science lab. Did the grasshopper try to spit on you, by the way? (Um. See. I used to take a shortcut home from school through a field, and. . .)

goingonhope -- puppies make everything better. Do take those pictures, if you get the chance. :)
