I think the problem is that most are full of shit, trying to ride the tails, and $$$, from others who know what they're doing. Those who jump onboard trying to profiteer from the naturopathic industry vs actually have the experience and lifestyle of it.I hate that there's not more "eclectic" doctors out there.
I remember this with acupuncture. I had had it before in life, some local acupuncturist who it seems was taught in some generic school, then applied it to others. It did nothing for me. Then I was taken to an acupuncturist who had studied in China for many years, learning the core of the skill, understanding the learning, understanding things that just weren't taught from theory, and came from experience. He was hard to find too. He was doing this freely across China, as its in most homes to some degree in poorer locations.
He did what doctors said would take surgery to fix with my ankle, all from acupuncture. Physio did nothing, surgery was the next option, a real acupuncturist ended up doing the trick.
