My boyfriend was in the Marines when about 3 years ago he was in a convoy that ran over an IED. He wasn't injured, but his friend was effectively blown up in front of him.

We've been dating a year and just moved in together, but that's when I realized how bad he's coping with everything. He never sleeps through the night and will actually get mad enough to the point of breaking out furniture.

I love him so much, but I'm not sure what to do. He will NEVER talk about his time at war. I have no idea what his rank even actually was because he refuses to talk about it. Everything I know I found out from his parents, but we're always shut down because he just starts yelling.

I know he was diagnosed combat PTSD, but I don't know if he's ever looked into treatment. I want to help him and show that I care, but how do I do that without getting yelled at or watch my apartment get ripped apart?

Hi shadowkat. (cute cute cute pic :))

He wouldn't even tell you his rank? Ubboy. Well, my question is first and foremost: What do YOU know about combat ptsd? What do you KNOW about combat ptsd? It will become more of an issue of those two questions for yourself before you can do anything for your bf. Essentially he's on his own terms if he's getting help or not, there's nothing you can really do from your end. So if you haven't yet begun to read and learn about it, please start. But ask questions too because some of us have been at this a bit longer. You're in a new little combat spouse/gf family now.

Thanks guys, I'm going to try and read the combat vet site. I was wondering if you guys know what kind of PTSD services the VA offers. Or if there's any other organizations that help veterans or anything. I've been trying to read up as much as I can about it, but it's all just so much. Are there any good books on it, too?
