As far as first impressions it sounds like you've already made a great one with how happy she sees her son with you. That's the true measure of a loved one's partner in my opinion. My stepfather has a personality don't really understand, but my Mom does and he makes her very happy so that's good enough for me. If she's as compassionate as described, there's truly no need to try and be "perfect" (not that it exists, ptsd or no), you may have hit the mother in law lottery, lol. As hard as it can be through all the anticipation anxiety. It certainly seems you can allow yourself a helping of optimism. I hope it all goes well.
