Do you take photos professionally @Fahrenheit451? Such beautiful images.

Took this picture this morning, beautiful day at the little train station:

I like to call myself an enthusiastic amateur but I do have a good camera. Plus I bought a pretty good zoom lens (100-400) a couple of years back so I could get better pictures of the animals I saw.
Beautiful picture by the way, great large depth of field. I wish we had weather like that up here. Sitting outside in the snow just isn’t quite the same. ?

I love that look the moose has in the first pic, @Fahrenheit451 . Hahaha! I finally visited an outdoor sportsman shop and invested in some wool long johns. I fully plan to embark on more outdoor adventures during the Brrrrr... season now, rather than just admiring the scenery from the inside. Here's hoping the "right" clothes help make the adventures less painful to this meat coated skeleton. ?

What are the temperatures like there, @MrMoonlight ? It looks so warm and inviting. What kind of train, if you don't mind me asking? Like a small one for kiddos or an actual passenger train?

I remember riding the little one at our local park when I was a kid, screaming and laughing my head off as it went through the little tunnel. I need to check and see if it's still running when spring time rolls around again. Might take a ride for old times sake.

I still haven't visited our local park since seeing @berlinda 's duck shots that inspired me to go. Maybe I'll do that tomorrow while the hubby is being entertained/pissed off (lol) by a football game.

Thanks again, @bellbird , for making this thread. It remains at the top of my list of favorite therapeutic spaces to visit.

Looking at your photos does the same thing to me. The quiet the snow brings not to mention the muted beauty is very appealing to me. The wildlife you capture is so beautiful as is the landscape.

I was considering a dslr last year because photography seems like an enjoyable sport...hunting images. That telephoto lense must be so fun. I'm kinda jealous... Lol

It's been about 60f as a high but next week we are supposed to be at about 70f. I'm really enjoying the cooler weather, I sit out back in the morning and it's cold cold enough to cozy down with warm fleece.

I love your memory of the train @Tornadic Thoughts . I bet the station in the photo would fit yours... It's a train for kids that circles the park. The station is adjacent to a water slide and park for the little ones.

I will get a photo that shows it more clearly. I was trying to shoot it to look more remote.

I didn't make it to the park to visit ducks today, but I did make it outside to pay tribute to my late aunt on her born day and to make time to celebrate life in all its forms.

She chose to take her own life by means of water, by jumping into a river. I chose to go sit in my favorite spot by the mountain stream and take some time to reflect on her life and all that she meant to me, rather than continue to kick my own ass with guilt and question whether or not I could have done more to stop it. I also spent time thinking about the irony of how water can both nourish the life flow as well as take it away....

Then I enjoyed some time with the pines and fir trees, especially admiring the scents they emit and the artistry of the cones...

I was reminded that no matter how good or bad I perceive a day to be, shit still very much happens all along the way...and if it doesn't, it isn't necessarily a good thing...just ask your innards...lol...

I was also reminded that no matter how many tools we use, or how often, how much we try to escape our perceived shadows, or how still we become in our attempts to simply blend in with "normalcy" and catch our breath, our shadow remains...

I almost stopped my walk and went back inside after the shadow thoughts, but something told me to keep going...and as I strolled along, I looked down and was greeted by this lovely dandelion-like wild flower, all by its lonesome, reminding me that beauty can be found anywhere, even when conditions don't appear to be very favorable...

From that point on, I had Tom Petty's song, Wildflowers, as my ear bug for the rest of the walk. May you rest in power, sweet aunt, and thank you for showing me the beauty in this otherwise mournful day.
