It was only anxiety
New Here
Hey all.
I only have ptsd traits but have read up on ptsd and psychology, I actually can't talk to psychologists because of my ptsd as I was a presumed sociopath but now found I am borderline so I've kind of beat the system and diagnosed myself through going over all my sessions which includes about 20 mental health professionals.
So I'm making an fyi to help you all out, firstly don't blame yourself for having ptsd if you do or blame therapists for lack of progress, try to understand everyone is human and there will always be emotional and political/ethical limitations to therapy.
So I just wanna make this thread so everyone who is struggling can help themselves. Please only take meds through a trusted family doctor or psychiatrist.
Ptsd is an anxiety disorder, it is curable, most people aren't dedicated or have the resources to treat themselves though hence the low cure rate.
What helps the most in my experience :
Necessary: Prozac/Zoloft or another ssri for motivation.
Exercise for anxiety. Fish oil especially if taking anti psychotics.
Mindfulness, focus on feet and breath during jogging, not music.
Social groups for distraction
Music therapy so each day just relaxing and listening to your favorite music that lifts your mood. If this is all difficult you need meds or a change, maybe even a cocktail. The default ptsd cocktail is zoloft and seroquel or if you aren't impulsive or angry at times proponolol. Keep in mind this is not a prescription, everyone is different and meds are very personal thing requiring a good psychiatrist.
Other things:
Talk therapy during a sauna.
Cold showers
Vipasanna for addictions, phobias or emotional dysregulation.
Zma for stress
Thai massage therapy for hyperarousal (expensive)
Swedish massage therapy for lazy/avoidant ptsd (expensive)
Cold showers
Avoid unnecessary reading.
(Not a prescription! Just my observations)
Meds for addictions:
Naloxone (alcohol heroin)
Lyrica (replaces cocktails)
Welbutrin (cocaine)
Methadone(opiates)
If you have memory flashbacks then there is cbt for it called ACT. Distraction is good such as working a job that allows you to socialize a lot.
really though the meat and potatoes of therapy is an ssri, exercise and distraction through work and socializing.
