Practicing New Techniques

Today I read about breathing techniques. Using the the diaphragm and not the shallow breathes I caught myself doing.

Trying to be cognizant of it today. Whew, what a task. Crazy how many times that I noticed my shallow mouth breathing.

So I am challenging anyone to try this with me and share their experiences with me.
 
I used to be a swimmer, by trade. Which meant, as I could control my breathing, as I exercised whilst holding my breath, for DECADES, I was a fair to decent marksman. Exhale, THEN squeeze the trigger... Is hard for most people. Shrug. Not sure why.

My mother? Sang opera. Was also? A microbiologist. Degree’s to a fairtheewell.. The whole child of parents who’d lived through the Depression, thing, seeing merit BOTH in art & practicality.

“Breathing” isn’t something that was ever basic/taken for granted in my house. Either one is controlling one’s breath to PROGECT! Or? To swim farther/faster/longer.

Until I had kids.

1? With breathing problems.

Breath… is an autonomic/purposeful act.

That? One can “short circuit” OTHER autonomic acts (like panic attacks) by forcing conscious control, on an unconscious system.

Good on you, for finding that edge. It’s finger & toeholds.
 
yeah, who woulda guessed that a basic reflex like breathing has so many dimensions to it? i've practiced breathing techniques for decades and still feel like a beginner.

i hum and/or sing to add sonic movement to the air movement amplifies the power of breathing. i get what feel like painful little knots of pressure inside my brain. humming provides relief in the form of a sonic massage.

would you be up for some singing lessons? they provide a study in manipulating your air flows. who cares how it sounds? i care about the relief, both cathartic and physical.
