i can already tell a difference in my obsessive thoughts and anxiety. To go eight years and think wow I defeated OCD by myself only to realize that it was the SSRI that did it. Paxil kept the obsessive thoughts at bay. Did nothing for my depression. Prozac is the first line treatment for OCD and depression because most ppl who have OCD get depressed by the constant battle with ruminating.
The thing about mental disorders is a person will start feeling better than they quit their meds because they feel the got over their symptoms. I on the other hand have a very hard time coming off meds. The withdrawals or what a doc likes to say, "rebound effects" come on very quickly so I stay on them even tho they have nasty side effects. I've seen ppl in the psych ward off their meds and just getting back on them and there is a great improvement in them.
I had a meth induced psychosis. The thing about this type of psychosis is it mimics schizophrenia. It looks just like it. Now they say that anyone who ceases to take meth the psychosis subsides. But in my case it kept going on and on. So I know I have a underlining psychotic disorder.
To be honest. I'm going to have to be on meds my whole life. The nightmares maybe PTSD or the medication mixing with the psychotic disorder, idk all I know is that I have bad dreams every night. Have had some type of trauma my whole life but crap hit the fan when I turned twenty. The target age for SZ. I'm high functioning but I need to find that self confidence back in me so I can work and go to school.
I often think wulp, I failed in so many areas that I will prolly quit work the first week and not go thru with the school. I have no GOOD pride. Not the cocky boastful pride that makes others annoyed. So all in all I'm liking the Prozac so far. I knew it was going to work. Zoloft and Prozac are the only new atypical ADs that work on me. Well I'm just typing because I'm bored. Anyone want to chime in and give their experiences about antidepressants that worked?
