Ptsd And Off-colored Jokes

My boyfriend of 3 years has combat PTSD and TBI. He can at times make off-colored jokes that come off as borderline perverted/creepy to people that don't know him well. He's always somewhat liked to push the limits in terms of his jokes (I've known him since we were kids), and I know that with his Army buddies, the sky was the limit as far as things said. However, I feel like since his return to the civilian world and subsequent diagnosis, he's not always able to "read the room" and distinguish the limit and sometimes just jumps well over it. Could there possibly be a link between the two things?

My ex-husband and ex-boyfriend both have PTSD...They were both SUPER awkward in social settings. I have anxiety/depression, and I looked like a social butterfly in comparison. If you ever want to handle the situation, if it's that bad, do it super gently because you don't want to end up with a man,who essentially won't go anywhere from fear of being around people. This is such a super hard question...maybe jokingly say his name in a disapproving way and shake your head. That's how I handled my ex-husband, because if I brought anything up that he did that was weird he would put up this wall and just get angry at me.

One time me and my husband at the time (plus three other couples) went to dinner. All the men paid, except my husband who told the waitress to split the bill. Now I'm all about feminism, but that's where "reading the room" comes in. You should feel awkward for not paying, when every other man did.

My ex-boyfriend, on the other hand, just wouldn't speak for fear of crowds.
