Same, my dad was a cop though. I could sneak away somewhere and make sure nobody saw us and yet he would always find out. Just the threat of a belting kept us in line, but we were always in the shit.
When my sister stole a lolly from the local shop, he took her there with lights and sirens on and made her pay for it.
Then when she got home, he gave her a belting.
Its the people that cross that line from discipline to abuse that the problem lies.
