PTSD Triggered When Friend Dumped Me

Dear G,

I wrote a thread a while back when I had a very similar experience with supposedly BFF. Recently, I read an article on the etiquette of friends on Facebook. The article stated that it was important that you be the dumper and not the dumpee. It went on to state the most common reasons for getting dumped on Facebook usually have nothing to do with interpersonal relationships but rather something as trivial as getting too many posts by the "offender".

I was so devastated that I lost this "friend" a few months ago. I think I place a great deal of importance on my friends because I don't have any family (all deceased). Sound familiar? Now, I finally got over it and when I look back, I actually can laugh about losing my friend. This is so ridiculous and childish of her. She sent me requests on Facebook for something called "Farmville". She lives in the city and I have a horse farm with real chickens and goats! The last thing I wanted was another farm so I never responded to her requests. When she deleted me, I called her and asked her why and she told that her neighbor used her Facebook account and must have deleted by accident. (What a coward because she wouldn't even "fess up".

I should have seen the train coming! Then, as usual I was getting at least ten e-mails a day from her. Many of the e-mails were chain letters that stated if I didn't forward this e-mail that I would have accident or bad luck. For years, I have been only forwarding back to her blind copy because I wouldn't pass this on to my friends. But then I thought how ridiculous! I spend fifteen minutes a day forwarding e-mails back to her? So I stopped.

Then I got an e-mail with a subject line of "If I don't get this back from you, you are not my friend". Well, I didn't respond to it. Guress what? I never heard from her again and when I look back now, it's just passive-aggressive, childish behavior and I'm glad I am not her friend any longer. Who needs that? Who needs a friend that just deletes you on Facebook? What kind of friend are they?

I know this is a long post but I just wanted you to understand that this is just nonsense. It's ridiculous. First of all, I don't even know half the people that are my friends on Facebook. They could be deleting me all the time and I could care less. There is a thread that I read here on the Forum called "Facebook Depresses Me". There was a lot of responses.

Guess I just want to say WELCOME!! No matter what you are experiencing, you are going to find people that understand and encourage you. I am so glad that you found your way to this site. It has changed my life and I know it will help you also!!

Big Hugs!

Gloria
