Quetiapine And Mania?

Can you ask to be re-referred to a psychiatrist? See a different GP?

Glad I'm not the only one struggling NHS! :( My GP is good, but just doesn't get it. If I feel no better in 2 weeks I'll ask to be re-referred. My T suggested lamotrogine... I need something to stabilize my mood that's for sure...

..
So does your GP agree that you seem manic? If he thinks you're manic and he doesn't think it is caused by the medication you're currently on, then shouldn't he be coming up with a plan on what to do about it?

He agreed I was manic, but thought it was coincidence and not caused by increased quetiapine. He said I this is why I need to increase to stabilize my mood. Soooops frustrating when I know something's not right! :( He said to go back in 2 weeks, but if I get worse to go back to 100 and make appoinment... urgh!!!

I am no pharmacologist, obviously ;-).But If the mania is at least partially drug induced then possibly you could have adhd exacerbating the side effects. As I understand, it is classic adhd to go up with drugs that are more sedative and down with drugs that are more stimulants.

Never heard that before. Don't think I'm ADHD tho, never usually feel like this. Usually I feel more depressed...

Still struggling with mania. Went to Dr on Friday - we've decreased quetiapine back to 125 as decided not sensible to keep increasing. She's going to contact psychiatrist for appointment/advice and I've got to phone her end of next week. Apparently my anxiety is making it worse as worrying about it a lot. T thinks they'll give me a different mood stabiliser, let's hope it settles soon! :( Spent weekend full of energy - a walk that usually takes me over an hour I did in half that time, but got me out in the sun. & cooked a lot!! Seems to ble my latest obsession!!

I've been on a low does of Quetiapine for a week now, and I am bouncing off the walls. Lots of agitation and restlessness, insomnia, etc. Definitely not the drug for me. From what I hear, it does cause paradoxical effects in people who are sensitive to anxiety.
