Quviviq/ Daridorexant - new sleep med that's helpful for PTSD

So, a month ago I started a new sleep med called Quviviq/ Daridorexant
It's pretty new and a bit pricier than normal sleep meds but the advantage is that it doesn't cause dependence like many other sleep meds.

I've been finding it super helpful because while I sleep 8 hours a night, my sleep is absolutely crap thanks to PTSD. I'm basically in a fight/flight state all night and wake up utterly exhausted in the morning.

Anyway, the med blocks some part of the Orexin pathway, or something like that - I think it's one of the body's stress hormones.

Anway, I just thought I'd post about it because I've never seen it mentioned on the forum and it's having a huge impact on the quality of my sleep and hence on the quality of my life overall.

It has worked super well for me too. I don't get the crazy groggy hangover the next day either. I do struggle with waking up though. Before the slightest anything would jostle me out of sleep. I can only take it on the weekends but it has improved my sleep so much and I can function so much better now.

What time do you take it @PlainJane
Might it be worth taking it 2 hours earlier to see if it's out of your system by the time you get up?

Thankfully my body seems to process it quickly enough so it's "gone" in the morning and I actually wake up a thousand times better/ more easily than after a night of crappy shitty sleep. That's the biggest benefit for me. Waking up and actually feeling like a normal human being.

Yeah, I don't know what's wrong with me, but I take it at 3:00 PM. Once I am awake it's fine, I don't feel a thing. However, when I take it I wont wake up until 8:30, it doesn't seem to matter when I take the medication and what time I go to bed. I will not wake up before then. It's the craziest thing. I even got one of those shocking wrist bands and it worked for a few days and then brain started ignoring it too. I am absolutely dead to the world.

So, I just deal with week nights being a bit off and catching up on weekends. It's a major improvement, and I am not complaining. I love that this med doesn't have the awful grogginess and allows me to think and function the next day. If it weren't for my work schedule I would be on it always, because I really am on fire when I am on it. Punctuality is more important than productivity, I guess. That's corporate for ya.
