I am not sure why I rant about this. I have been surfing and posting on various boards a bit too much those days, because I needed to be awake when everybody else was asleep. I ran into conflicts several times though I never tried to be controversial and thought something was wrong with me or my opinion. Now I had an epiphany. I had been posting about a really boring topic, really boring and I did so on purpose because I did not want to post something controversial... guess what happened? Some people, who knew my age, came and complained hoe millennials care for boring topics... lol.. I think you just cannot please some people... and some people hanging around internet boards are seeking controversy...
I feel much better now...

Yep... and I do not know why I cared for the opinion of people on internet boards I do not even know.

Complain about things people on internet boards said part 358436: A military spouse on an internet board said that I have no clue about military life because otherwise I would understand vets desire to eat just crap. It is possible I have no clue about military life. I never served. Why so rude? And I cannot believe that they only eat pralines and cupcakes at the military or do they? No, I cannot believe that. I do understand they do not serve health food and that they need a lot of calories but really... I am embarrassed to ask this... they do eat halfway okay there, don’t they. From what Vet told me about what they eat it always sounded like... okay... That’s not health food... but okay. His favourite was the pea soup. I cannot cook it that well like they can... and why should vet lie about eating pea soup when his meals would really have consisted of pralines and icecream.

Maybe she does not understand of a diet how crappy I talked when I said “crappy diet“.

Currently feeling very misunderstood by everybody. I should stop thinking about that kind of things.

I used to work with a man who emigrated here to Canada to become red seal baker. Before this he was in the Luftwaffe. If I remember correctly, he was whatever the Luftwaffe equivalent is to a Feldwebel in the Bundeswehr.
I had made a comment to him one day about the irony of leaving the military in Germany to work with 25kg boxes of powdered eggs in Canada.
He then told me that when he was serving, he was told to assist the mess staff with moving some boxes of ingredients off a truck to the kitchen storage. He told me he had a good laugh when he noticed many of the boxes were labelled "Food for use by animals or Bundeswehr only" He said he was glad he had joined the Air Force instead of the Army.

I would imagine the appeal to eat rubbish food would be the convenience of easy, fast, portable, high calorie food full of sugar. Providing instant gratification for someone who is tired, cranky, not very hungry but needing fuel.
Though I don't think that's exclusive to veterans, but rather anyone who works alot and eats poorly.
I'm not a vet, but I would imagine out in the field you probably shovel as much food in as you can when you get a chance. Not that different from the diet of a workaholic, aside from Army rations being a bit better for you nutritionally than McDonald's restaurant food.

Was this person you spoke to a vet? If not, they're guessing at the reason behind the dietary logic just as I am.
So far this other forum has had both a "backseat psychologist" and a "backseat mess sergeant" :roflmao:
