Readers thread: what or who are you reading right now?

Those are 2 great books @Recovery1st ?

I've had trouble with reading too though it's defo improving. And audible is great isn't it.

You want more trauma related book suggestions? Not all of the following are, but I've either found em helpful or mean to read because others have found em helpful. :)

Healing Developmental Trauma, Laurence Heller

8 Keys to safe trauma recovery, Babette Rothschild

In an Unspoken Voice, How the body Releases Trauma, Peter Levine

The Dialectical Behaviour Therapy skills Workbook, Matthew McKay,

Start where you are, how to accept yourself and others Pema Chodron

Self Compassion, Kristin Neff

Ooh! And musn't forget Judith L Herman Trauma and Recovery
The first one I read and a great book!

Thank you so much. I will add them to my collection.

@berlinda Thank you so much. I will start adding them to my collection ?

Total score!!
I'm enjoying them but they are not as good as history books because I can't repeat the segments. Not good enough to listen again. But I'll get a few months out of it. It needs a couple adjustments. I need a cable so I can play it through the stereo, the iPhone speaker doesn't work for me.

Howdy, @blackemerald1 . Hope life is treating you kindly. I read/skimmed through that book up to the chapters that start telling personal experiences, submitted by the person(s) who have done the protocol and experienced life changing benefits from many different things. I don't retain info well enough to quote specificity, but will give ya' what my brain's got. :)

This book is more of a very brief review of her experience and protocol, albeit very helpful (based solely on my recent food consumption experiences) even if you aren't aware of the initial information, minus the step by step scene with recipes and whatnot. Her initial book that I think is titled, "Goodbye Lupus", is the one with many more details laid out simply and plainly, supposedly. I haven't seen that one yet, so I don't know for sure.

I'm glad I got this one because it reminds me of how well I felt once upon a time when drinking and eating a whole lot of what she suggests to "hypernourish" myself, especially physically, and gives me renewed inspiration to make time to get there again. May the inspiration continue to grow as I read the stories of others. Fingers crossed! Take care.

Thank you @Tornadic Thoughts for your review. :) Good to know about this author esp., if she's got a few recipes.- I will have to get her books. Maybe the local library can get them in for me they are very good at doing that.

I find if there are actually recipes that work (in terms of variety and taste) I do so much better. I can sort of visualise what I need to avoid and how to use the right sorts of foods if it's put into action like that.

gives me renewed inspiration to make time to get there again.

^I need some inspiration too. Sadly lacking in that area right now so that book will help me see the possibility of getting a little better I hope.

Again, thankyou :)

Here's a link with some of their "smoothie shred" recipes. Her husband also has free you tube stuff with other recipes, etc. Thomas Tadlock is his name.

Smoothie Recipes — SmoothieShred.com #smoothieshred

I'm finding the smoothie route to be a great way to pack in a lot of nutrition, once again, especially early in the day/late morning/early afternoon. I like to make them taste like I remember milkshakes tasting....by adding a spoonful of peanut or sunflower seed butter, cacoa or carob powder, vanilla bean, or strawberries.

I add lots of fresh greens as well as powdered, some chia seeds, and use flax milk, or almond milk, or water. I keep bananas frozen and ready. I scored the high speed blender I have via craiglist for about 1/4 of the current retail cost after placing an ad requesting one via someone who had placed theirs on a shelf never to be used again....and ta-da!

Found a yo-nanas machine in a consignment shop for $5.00 that turns frozen bananas/etc. into a soft serve or sorbet consistency. Scored a nutri-bullet in that same shop for $8.00. A different shop had a Jack LaLane Power Juicer for a few bucks, also.

Even found my mini-trampoline via craigslist, too, for a great price, after placing an ad seeking one collecting dust. lol One man's junk is another man's treasure, for real. Grateful for those bargains and all the free "You Tube University" treasures that helped me along my journey. But they don't work if I don't, dammit.

Staying motivated to make it all happen is where I trip all over myself, thanks to the chronic pains and wandering brain. It definitely isn't convenient and not always affordable, but, neither is the dis-ease(s) that came before, so I just keep trying my best and keeping my sense of humor about it all. Here I go again. Wheeeeeee...

Cheers!

^I gave mine to my daughter in law about a year ago because I didn't want it anymore! Hmm..

Thanks for the YT suggestion too. :)

^I'm in agreeance with ^ completely.
