Made me think about my sister and brother growing up. I don't know what I do in my sleep I just know I wake up alot. But growing up my sister would sleepwalk and wake up screaming " turn on the lights" ALOT.
My brother, however, was a kicker, puncher, and would end up in my mom's bed. Even in his teens. Now he's an insomniac. Reading about you all in starting to wonder why. I will never ever ask him though.

because I find ways to stop the type of thoughts that lead to PTSD reactions during the day, but they dont work in my sleep. The best I can do is to realize in my dreams that I am reliving a bad memory or projecting bad outcomes to situations in my dreams and wake up, still a bad situation but better than night terror and drenching the sheets and pillows in sweat. Then I have to get up, calm down, change bedding and try to sleep again. Drugs that help me sleep increase the number of times I sleep long enough to go to the full fight or flight scenarios, Sleeping without any help is probably healthier but leads to nights without sleep and poor performance at work, not an option.

Do you go to therapy ? I do and it helps but know what you mean. I'm up right now and have had no sleep. I have really bad triggers. thinking about my family really upsets me. However, you just reminded me I also have sleeping pills and I see nothing wrong with using them when needed. But if being dependent on them concerns you, try talk therapy if you don't alreadt. I've been going for about 7 years and it helps. I hope this helps.
