Of course, massage isn't just for humans. My dogs love a massage (there are some great web sites giving how to advice). I massage them daily and I am certain it calms me as well as the dogs.

I couldn't let anyone touch me, or even see me semi naked. The only parts of me ever exposed in public are my feet (flip-flops), my hands and forearms (occasionally upperarms, if a t-shirt has very short sleeves, but I generally don't buy them, or wear something else either underneath in winter, or over the top in summer), and my face, neck and décolletage. They are the only part of exposed flesh I will allow anyone to see. So enjoy your massages, they sound so relaxing.

Shiatsu is a form of massage done fully clothed.

Reiki massage is energy work. The practioner barely touches you, for example, she might just lightly slip a finger lightly behind your neck and wait, still and motionless for a few moments.

There are other massage modalities. I have found that if I tell my massage therapist where I hurt and a little about PTSD things go much better.

I have posted a media clip about Reflexology hand massage. It seems easy to follow, so give it a try.

You need the sound up a bit. Give it a go and see how you can do your own. Some nice home made hand cream, or just a small amount of carrier oil with a few drops of your choice of oil would go well with this.

1 tablespoon of carrier and 3 drops of oil, is all you should need for both hands.

Amethist

Reiki massage is energy work.

I had Reiki performed on me when I had an allergic reaction to a spider bite that left me paralyzed from the waist down. The lady who performed it was also a nurse, she never once touched my body and after 10 minutes, I was up and walking around. I was able to fully recover without having to go to the hospital or see a doctor. My experience has been that Reiki is pretty amazing and is definitely worth checking out!!!

I tried Reiki but unfortunately it did not work for me...... it seems reflexology is more beneficial for stress management than Osteopathic visits which the doctor wants me to reduce with better self management. If I reduce my stress then my back and neck don't seem to go out as much and the sciatic pain subsides.

Interesting how different techniques work for others and the reflexology was spur of the moment for me.

PS... Amethist.... I have my oils burning today.....

Nicolette - perhaps you could send Anthony to night school to learn to be a masseur. Then you wouldn't have to go to the mall, and pay out money. And I'm sure a massage from your hubby would be a lot more intimate and fun ;)

CB this is Anthony you are talking about! I used to beg for foot massages and this is what I got for Christmas a couple of years ago (actually he gave it to me just before Christmas to shut me up :whistling:).............

OSIM iSnug - Foot Massager with Air, Roller Massage and Heat
iSnug's Tri-Active Massage combine Air Massage, Roller Massage and Heat to give a multi-sensory treatment to tired feet. Its dual-directional rollers with protruding knuckles achieve an authentic foot reflexology effect.

It sits under my desk. Sometimes when we are in here together I say "isn't my husband wonderful as he's going to give me a foot massage now" and then turn it on. :) Anthony thinks its the best money he has ever spent. If only I could take it to bed with me and have it massage my feet while I fall asleep. :barefoot:
