Hello everyone.
My name is Sarah and I am a fourth year psychology student at the University of Edinburgh. I am doing my dissertation on aspects of Eye-Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy for Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
I am interested in contacting people with PTSD who are undergoing or have undergone EMDR therapy. I have attached a link to a simple 12 question survey that I have developed.
The aims of my research are to promote understanding of what is important to successful psychotherapeutic treatment for PTSD, how clients feel that the process works, and how and to what extent EMDR meets the needs of those with PTSD. The link to this survey is here: https://edinburgh.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/emdr_survey
Alternatively, if you have not received or are receiving EMDR, I am interested in your experience of PTSD, this survey takes the form of an open-ended question to which you may respond as much or as little as you like. The link to this survey is here: https://edinburgh.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/ptsd_experience
The criteria for taking part in the study are:
You must be aged 18 or over
You must have been diagnosed with PTSD
*You must be receiving or have received EMDR for PTSD (this criterion is only relevant for the first study)
Confidentiality/Anonymity
All of the answers you provide will be treated in the strictest of confidence. No identifiable information will be attached to your responses. Any information you provide that refers to a person or place will be replaced with aliases or removed.
You have the right to withdraw from the study at any point, or to request that the information you provided be removed from the study, without explanation. You are also completely free to answer the questions in any way that you like and not to answer a specific question if you so wish.
If you require any further information, please feel free to contact me or my supervisor via the University of Edinburgh’s Psychology Research Ethics Committee at: psyethics (at) ed.ac.uk
Thank you very much for reading my request.
Warm Regards
Sarah.
