Respect Is Basic, But Effort Keeps Me Engaged

Can I ask - who is this directed towards? A friend? Someone interested in pursuing a relationship? A family member?
Good question. It’s directed towards someone I’m getting to know better and having a real conversation with. Not just a friend, and not familymore like seeing where the connection naturally goes. What about you, how do you usually approach someone you’re interested in?

It’s not something that I’d say I do frequently enough to have a usual approach. But, the underlying drive would be curiosity I think.

I have requirements for people that I’m in a relationship with - being able to treat each other respectfully is definitely necessary for me.

The second part seems a bit odd, but also vague. It’s not something I think I’d prioritise.

I’m going to talk about how I would want a relationship-style effort to be for a friend, as it’s not something I think about for myself.

I’d want them to put in effort in their own way. E.g romantic-type people would buy flowers, creative people might paint you something, adventurous people might show you their favourite places to go. People show appreciation in lots of different ways, as long as you feel like you matter to that person.
