Road Trip Progress

I am going on a 160 day road trip with my kids. My kids will be 7 and turning 5 on the trip. I'm more than a little crazy for doing this, but it will be wonderful.

At this point I have arranged reservations for 128 out of the 160 days. That feels really exciting!! We leave in 11 weeks and 6 days.

I'm nervous. I'm excited. I get to see the CHP (California Highway Patrol) and DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) this week to register my camping trailer. Eeek. That feels overwhelming and scary. But I'm going to do it!

I feel so grateful that my husband is ok with me doing this. I love the life I get to have.

It helps that I think my kids are the coolest things ever. Spending time with them feels like time well spent. Even if we do nothing at all. I am so glad I get to be a parent. I wanted this so much. It is as wonderful as I hoped.

its a fantastic experience to show the kids the road - ive done it going from CA to MA , MA to NM , NM to MD. i hope you all have a great time , its truly a once in a lifetime experience. When i was a kid i regularly went on road trips with my father, sometimes for 2-3 mths at a time, I got to see the whole of Australia 7 times over and it gave me skills at being able to do so many things.

I met many moms traveling with their children when I bummed around Europe for a year. They were all so cool and their kids were awesome too. Best wishes you are giving them a great adventure!!!

That is way cool. I bet you will all have a blast. Are you going to be able to keep us updated on the road? You know pics of the scenery and such.

I worry about saying this, because it looks like self-promotion. I will be blogging on my personal sites but probably I won't be here much. I will have very limited internet time and I will probably barely have time to upload stuff I have written off-line and check email during my share of internet time. I'll have to share with the kids. :)

But if you want to know where my personal blogging stuff is, you can send me a PM. I'm not shy I'm just not allowed to promote myself. :D Uhm... if you Google me most of my stuff is linked. I'm not in the closet. :) Medium is where I put the stuff that is not scary or triggering. :) The website with my real name is more or less my stream of conscious journal. It can be really intense and triggering for folks. FYI. Medium is where I put kid-friendly stuff and it is where I will do the travel-logue stuff for kids. Road schooling will be a big theme. :)

Its a really really big place mate. I'm pretty sure you haven't seen the WHOLE of it even once. ;)

can prove it through and through bud....was raised with what at the time was the largest heavy haulage company in Australia and travelled from the time i was a toddler until l left school , on average 3 months min each year - if you want proof can send links to old photos of loads and what not and where they went - my father is listed in the Australian Transport Museum (Darwin) hall of fame
